About the Instructor

Hi, I’m Calian—musician, educator, accessibility advocate, and the heart behind Echo Strings Academy. I specialize in cello, bass, and music theory instruction, with a focus on making music education not only possible, but deeply meaningful for students of all ages, abilities, and learning styles.

My own music journey started early. I began playing cello at the age of 8, and by my early teens, I was already composing classical music and transcribing sheet music for friends who loved to play but didn’t yet know how to read it. What started as a passion project became a professional path. I went on to work with artists like Lindsey Stirling—shaping the published sheet music you see in stores today.

My teaching career began in college, offering private cello lessons and helping with music theory classes. Since then, I’ve worked with schools, community programs, private studios, and music shops to bring personalized, patient instruction to hundreds of students. I currently teach one-on-one lessons, consult with school music departments, and offer accessible online courses in music theory and composition.

About Echo Strings Academy

At Echo Strings Academy, my mission is to create a space where students feel seen, supported, and free to grow at their own pace. Whether you’re a parent of a neurodivergent child, an adult returning to your instrument, or someone who’s never touched a string before, there’s a place for you here. I believe in meeting students where they are, honoring their process, and celebrating the small wins that lead to lasting transformation.

When I’m not teaching or transcribing music, I’m dreaming up new ways to make the world of strings more inclusive—like prototyping adaptive tools for cello players with physical disabilities. Music changed my life, and I’m here to help it change yours.

Let’s play.
